My parents visited and spent a few days at my apartment recently. When they left I found this arrangement on my marble chimney a collection of the coins my father had gathered on his trip, with the apartments key topping this assemblage. My dad an engineer/business man managed to effortlessly and unintentionally capture the essence of why I am more like him than I ever thought. We both have obsessive-compulsive tendencies and are innately inclined to provide an aestheticized order to the disorderly. The main difference is that I do it and call it art. For him its merely what he does to feel at ease with the chaos around him.
I immediately ran for my camera to capture this realization before I obsessively reorganized my place to the way it was before my parents visit.
